The director of Columbia University's Center for the Study of Ethnicity and Race, Frances Negrón-Muntaner, has been appointed to the National Park System Advisory Board's American Latino Scholars Expert Panel. The NPS Advisory Board was established by congress in 1935 to help preserve the United States' national parks and historic sites. She is one of two Puerto Ricans serving on the board.
